Prior to Heidrick & Struggles, Kyung was president of Benten Investments, Inc., president of Pacific Union Asset Management, vice president of Dillingham Development Co. and a banker with BNP Paribas.
Kyung has a deep understanding of corporate governance practices for public and private companies, as well unparalleled access to the very top-level executives and corporate directors due to her past and current board experience as a director of Silicon Valley Bank (NASDAQ:SIVB), MCM Worldwide/Sungjoo Group, Mobile Money Ventures, and as Trustee, Former Chairman and President of the Asia America MultiTechnology Association (AAMA), Advisory Board of Asia Society of Northern California and Stanford Business School SPRIE (Stanford Program for Regions of Innovation and Entrepreneurship). She provides her boards and clients with the role of strategic, trusted advisor and provides a unique, global perspective to business challenges, leadership, organizations, and new, technology-driven economic models.
Kyung is founder and CEO of Talent Age Associates, based in Palo Alto. The firm provides CEO, board and senior-level executive searches, along with leadership coaching and interim financial expertise. Prior to Talent Age, Kyung served as vice chairman, of H&S and led its expansion in Asia, managing the Singapore, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Taipei, Shanghai, and Seoul offices. Clients include Fortune 500 and multinational corporations, mid-cap and venture-backed startup companies, and nonprofit institutions. Kyung is also co-founder and partner of Executive Board Exchange (EBX), the premier community for corporate director and board engagement.
Kyung also mentors and supports Korean entrepreneurs globally and serves on the Global Advisory Board of Belaunch 2013, Korea’s biggest startup and technology conference. She holds a B.A. in economics and French literature from Goucher College in Baltimore, and an M.B.A. in finance and marketing from the Chicago Booth School of Business/University of Chicago. Kyung splits her time between homes in San Francisco/Silicon Valley, Seoul and Los Cabos, Mexico. Kyung is fluent in English, Korean, and French and is conversant in Mandarin and Spanish. She is also a practicing artist and dancer who is engaged with the performing and fine arts communities around the world.
