Yuwadee Chirathivat joined Central Department Store in 1981 and was appointed to various positions in both the operations and merchandising departments. In 1996, she was appointed the President of Central Department Store.
As Central Department Store’s profile becomes more prominent regionally and internationally, her role in the store’s growth becomes all the more apparent. In 2004, she was the first-ever woman - as well as the third-ever Asian - to be elected President of the Intercontinental Group of Department Stores, a Zurich-based global association that was set up in 1946 to represent the shared interests of department stores throughout Africa, the Americas, Asia, Europe and Oceania. After her Presidency, she remains active in her role in the IGDS as part of its Executive Board.
Whilst being President of Central Department Store, she has seen the store nominated in 2008 as one of the top 3 department stores in the world and as one of the top 5 in 2010, by the Global Department Store summit.
Presently, Yuwadee manages 15 Central Department Stores throughout Thailand and has been instrumental in its continuous growth to the present day.
